SAN MARCOS, Texas - - Texas State used a pair of second-half goals to overcome a halftime deficit en route to a 2-1 win over the Tulane women's soccer team at the Bobcat Soccer Complex on Sunday.
Tulane lost its fourth straight - all on the road - to fall to 2-5-1 overall.
The Green Wave got on the board in the first half with a goal from sophomore Jessica Traver. At the 31:18 mark, Traver took a pass from junior Jessica Mendez and rifled home a shot past the Texas State goalkeeper to give the Wave a 1-0 advantage. The goal was Traver's first of the year, while Mendez picked up her first assist of the season.
After taking the one-goal lead into the locker room, Tulane saw Texas State strike back with two goals in the second stanza, the first coming just five minutes in.
After having played five of its last six games on the road, Tulane returns to the friendly confines of the Westfeldt Facility next weekend, as the Green Wave begin Conference USA play. The Wave will welcome league foe Houston on Friday, with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m. CST.
