COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Tulane University women's soccer team looks to snap a two-game losing skid as it heads on its final road trip of the regular season, traveling to Houston to face Rice on Friday evening and Houston on Sunday.
The Green Wave enter the weekend with an overall mark of 1-8, 1-5 in Conference USA after coming up short against Tulsa and SMU last weekend in College Station. Tulane's opponents for the weekend, Rice and Houston, went head-to-head last weekend in a match that would not be decided with two overtime frames and ended as a 1-1 draw.
Junior midfielder Jackie Obert leads the Tulane attack with two goals on the year while senior Jessica Mendez and junior Kali Miller have each contributed one goal and one assist.
Rice, meanwhile, brings a 7-5-2, 3-1-1 mark into Friday's 7 p.m. contest at Rice Soccer/Track Stadium, the site of the 2005 Conference USA Soccer Championship. The Owls, who sit two points behind UTEP for the lead in the C-USA standings, are led on offense by Caitlin Robbins, who has knocked in six goals to go along with five assists on the season.
Following Friday's game, Tulane travels across town to face Houston at 1 p.m. Sunday. Sophia Mundy, a transfer from Portland State, paces the Cougar offense with 10 goals on the year. Last Friday's tie with Rice moved the UH record to 7-4-2 and 2-2-1 on the year and put the Cougars in sixth place in the league standings.
Tulane returns to College Station for the final game of the regular season, when the Green Wave plays host to league-leading UTEP on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m.
