NEW ORLEANS - Former Tulane volleyball coach Betsy Becker has been named assistant athletic director for external operations at the school, while the Green Wave external staff has also added Corey Guerrera, Dan Holden and former Tulane baseball player Matt Mann in the Tulane Athletics Fund, Ticket Office and Green Wave Gift Shop, respectively.
New Orleans native Becker, who in December resigned after six years at the helm of the Tulane volleyball program in order to spend more time at home with her young son, will concentrate on fundraising for the Tulane Athletics Fund and the department's Perpetual Wave Campaign, a $65 million, five-year drive to lay a solid foundation for Tulane Athletics. She will also assist in the Green Wave's marketing and promotions and ticket sales efforts.
"Betsy is extremely well-suited to this new role," said Scott Sidwell, Associate Athletic Director for External Operations. "She brings great energy and enthusiasm to the job, along with a great knowledge of New Orleans and this community. Having coached many student-athletes during her time here, she is well-equipped to tell the story of Tulane Athletics and the great things going on here."
Holden is the Wave's new ticket manager, having taken over for Tim Zenner, who remains with Tulane in a new role as director of ticket sales and services. Holden manages all aspects of the Green Wave Ticket Office day-to-day operations, including supervising the ticket office staff, processing ticket orders and managing ticket operations at home events. A native of Bellbrook, Ohio, Holden spent the last year as assistant box office manager at the Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum Complex after previously working in ticket operations and sales at the University of Tennessee and for the Tennis Masters Series Cincinnati event and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Guerrera earned both bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Florida before coming to Tulane as an external officer for the Tulane Athletics Fund. Guerrera will concentrate on donor relations and fundraising for TAF, including serving as a liaison with the Green Wave's booster clubs.
Mann, a four-year member of the Green Wave baseball team who earned his bachelor's degree from Tulane in December, is the new manager of the Green Wave Gift Shop. In that role, he handles all inventory, ordering and processing of orders as well as in-store sales for the store located in the James W. Wilson Center and on the web at www.TulaneGreenWave.com.
"We're very pleased to have these young professionals on board," Sidwell said. "We have a very hard-working staff, and these guys have stepped in and made an impact. These are the people that interact with our fans and supporters on a daily basis, and I hope everyone will welcome them to the Tulane family."
