Owings joined the Green Wave in September of 2004 after two standout years at Georgia Tech. The newcomer proved to be a major addition to the already potent Green Wave roster. He earned Conference USA Player of the Year honors and leads the Wave with 18 home runs. On the mound, he has also been a force, turning in his best performance in a must-win situation against Rice in the Super Regional, tossing a complete-game shutout to turn momentum the Wave's way.
If Tulane wins on Saturday, it will play on Monday at 6 p.m. against the winner of Saturday's Texas-Baylor match. With a Saturday loss, the Wave would play at 1 p.m. on Monday against the loser of the Texas-Baylor game. Both of those games will be aired live by ESPN.
