OLE MISS NOTES
Ole Miss moves to 9-8 in NCAA Tournament games under head coach Mike Bianco. The Rebels are 6-0 in their last two NCAA Regional appearances and 7-2 overall in the last two NCAA Tournaments.
With his two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning, junior right fielder Mark Wright recorded his fourth home run of the 2006 postseason. He collected two home runs in the 2006 SEC Tournament and two at this weekends NCAA Regional.
When junior third baseman Chris Coghlan crossed the plate in the top of the sixth inning he became the Ole Miss all-time leader in single season runs scored with 70. Coghlan was previously tied for the single season lead at 69 with Burney Hutchinson who also recorded 69 runs in the 2001 season.
TULANE NOTES
Tulane played in an NCAA Regional championship game for the third consecutive season and for the fifth time in school history on Sunday evening. Tulane dropped to 3-3 in NCAA Regional championship games with the 12-4 loss to Ole Miss.
With his home run in the bottom of the first inning, junior first baseman Mark Hamilton posted his team leading 20th homer of the season. The 20 home runs marks the most in a season for Tulane since 2002 when James Jurries also recorded 20.
With his selection to the 2006 Oxford Regional all-tournament team, senior center fielder Nathan Southard earned NCAA All-Region team honors for the third-straight season.
With his two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning, sophomore second baseman Brad Emaus knocked one of the park for the first time since April 7 at Houston.
By giving up a single in the top of the ninth inning, junior RHP Daniel Latham allowed his first hit in six appearances (8 and one-third innings) in NCAA Regional play. Latham also allowed his first run scored in the same amount of time in the top of the ninth.
