Strong Pitching Leads Baseball to 6-2 Midweek Victory Over Nicholls

NEW ORLEANS  – The Tulane baseball team (15-15, 2-4 American) earned the team's fourth straight midweek victory by a 6-2 margin over visiting Nicholls (14-16) on Tuesday, March 31, on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The Green Wave pitched exclusively left-handed pitchers in the game.
LuisPablo Navarro (1-1) started and earned the victory with a three inning and five strikeout outing. He allowed just one hit in throwing 37 pitches. Julius Ejike-Charles surrendered two hits and one run in his inning with a strikeout. Tom Vincent pitched the next three frames with a hit and run allowed along with two strikeouts. Beau Sampson closed out the game, throwing the final two innings with just a walk allowed while striking out four.
Kaikea Harrison led the offense for Tulane with three hits, two runs and an RBI. Jason Wachs walked three times. Trent Lilios totaled a hit and three RBIs plus a walk. Brett Rowell walked. Tye Wood had a hit, a run scored and drew a pair of walks. James Agabedis drove in two plus had a home run and scored a run. Tanner Chun scored a pair of runs, walked twice and also doubled.
Nicholls Will Mabry (1-3) was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs on four hits and four walks in 3.1 innings.
Tulane scored first with a run in the opening frame on a Liolios sacrifice bunt.
The Green Wave added a pair of runs in the second inning as Wood raced around and scored from second on an infield ground out off the ball hit by Agabedis. Harrison followed later in the frame with an RBI single.
Tulane added a run to the advantage in the fourth on the home run from Agabedis. It was his second home run of the campaign.
Nicholls cut the deficit in half. 4-2, on the two-run single from Jaxon Milam in the fifth.
The Green Wave picked up two insurance runs in the seventh inning on a two-run single from Liolios.
Next, Tulane gets on the road and takes on Wichita State (20-10, 4-2 American) from April 2-4 in Kansas.
