NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane volleyball team completes its final Conference USA regular season road weekend, with a 7 p.m. Friday match at SMU and a Sunday tilt at Tulsa at 1 p.m. Tulane and Tulsa will air tape delay on CSTV on Tuesday, October 30 at 9 p.m. The Green Wave have won four straight, and seek its third five-match win streak of the season.
The Green Wave sit at 21-5 overall, and 9-2 in Conference USA, good for second place, one-half game behind C-USA leader Marshall.
Tulane is one win off its school record for road or neutral site wins in a season, with 12 this year, one back of 2002's mark.
College Volleyball Update National Player of the Week Sara Radosevic leads the Green Wave into action. Last week, she posted 7.00 kills per match, racking up 63 kills in Tulane's three-game sweeps of Stephen F. Austin, Central Florida and Southern Miss. The junior outside hitter is averaging 4.66 kills per game on the season, and also picked up Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Sophomore libero Jenn Miller is the reigning Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.56 digs per game in three matches last week. For the season, Miller is second in C-USA with 5.20 digs per game.
Junior outside hitter Bridget Wells is hitting .360 in Conference USA matches, third in the conference-only leaders, with junior middle blocker Jen Linder right behind in fourth at .346. For the season, Wells is hitting .324 with 3.73 kills per game. Sophomore outside hitter Ksenija Vlaskovic adds 4.42 kills per game.
As a team, Tulane ranks eighth in the NCAA in kills and assists, and is 13th nationally in hitting percentage, leading Conference USA in each mark. Tulane is also on pace to break the single-season school record in each of those categories.
SMU (14-10 overall) is 4-6 in Conference USA matches. The Green Wave swept the Mustangs earlier this season in Fogelman Arena on Sept. 30.
Tulane's match with Tulsa will have C-USA tournament seeding implications as well as potentially serve as an elimination game for the C-USA regular season title. Tulsa, at 8-2 in C-USA is one game behind Marshall, and just a half-game back of the Green Wave. One of the Golden Hurricane's two C-USA losses came at the hand of the Green Wave on Sept. 28 at Fogelman Arena, a 3-0 sweep. Tulsa is 20-5 overall entering its Friday match with UTEP.
