You know, every time I open Microsoft Word for the rest of my life I think I'm going to remember this past week and all of its marvels. I wrote four papers in as many days for as many classes. But enough about school- no one wants to think about that.
We're nearing the end of our season and are definitely on an upswing. TUVB is in it for the long haul. From the beginning, our goal has been a 115 day season, which puts us into the second round of the NCAA tournament, a goal that has not been attained before in school history. Leave it to us to go into uncharted territory. However, before we can even think about entering into the tournament, we have to win our conference tournament, which is a short two weeks away.
Then end of the season is tough: not only is there a lot more pressure, but our bodies are breaking down and everyone is a bit testier with each other. All of this is understandable when taking into consideration the 28 matches we've played to far this season and all the time we spend together. This season has been a lot better than last year, though, and we're all making the sacrifices necessary to ensure our betterment every day.
Upcoming this weekend is a match against Rice on Friday at 7pm (don't forget about the $1 beer and hot dogs) and one against Houston on Sunday at 1pm. Houston is one of only two teams in our conference to have beaten us this year (because of some weird curse that won't lift itself) so we need all the support we can get! Come out and cheer for us, and heckle them if that's your style!
Roll Wave, Jenn Miller
P.S. I think I'm supposed to mention that I was awarded the Conference Defensive Player of the Week accolade for the fourth time this season because of the wonderful blocking skills of all my front row players. Really, without them, I would have no teeth from all the volleyballs smashing into my face.
