Miller's Moments: Preseason Practice in High Gear

Ah, the first days of preseason. Sleep, eat, practice, sleep, eat, practice, etc... it seems to go on forever... If only classes would never start.
Coming back as a sophomore has proven to be much more enjoyable than coming in as a complete newbie. For instance, the whole team has been here at school for the past month, working volleyball camps sponsored by Tulane, going to summer school classes, lifting together, and even playing some pick-up games. We are all in shape and were ready to work the first day back.
Being in such good shape has enabled us to worry more about the technical aspect of the game instead of just running our butts off to ensure we would have enough endurance to last through the season. Just like we have grown a bit, our practices have also taken a step up: whereas last year was more about just keeping the ball in play, now we have to work to build a fluid system complete with a solid playbook.
We do everything as a team: practice, eat, watch movies, lift weights, go to meetings, and share rooms, so we're with each other all day every day. While this does lead to catty arguments sometimes, we love being around each other and always have fun.
I would like to stay and chat, but I'm actually supposed to moving into my permanent dorm room... wish me luck!
Roll Wave, Jenn Miller
