- The contest marks the 7th all-time meeting between Tulane and UAB, with the Blazers leading the series, 4-3.
- Tulane LB Evan Lee started his 25th consecutive game, the longest active streak for the Green Wave. C Michael Parenton started his 24th consecutive game, while Andrew Nierman made his 22nd consecutive start.
- Tulane has not been shutout in a game in the last 74 games, a streak dating back to Sept. 28, 2002 at No. 3 Texas (49-0).
- Tulane's captains for the game: senior center Michael Parenton, senior defensive end Reggie Scott, senior cornerback Josh Lumar and senior offensive lineman Troy Kropog.
- Tulane honored their 16 seniors prior to kickoff. The 2008 graduating football class is made up of Michael Batiste, James Dillard, Scott Elliott, Jordan Ellis, Craig Gelhardt, Justin Kessler, Brian King, Troy Kropog, Evan Lee, Josh Lumar, Michael Parenton, Reggie Scott, Julian Shives-Sams and David Skehan. - J.T. McDonald caught a career-best reception for 38 yards from Kevin Moore.
- J.T. McDonald scored his first touchdown reception on a 27-yard pass from Kevin Moore with 6:07 left in the first half.
- J.T. McDonald scored three TDs in the contest. The last Tulane player to score three touchdowns in a game was junior running back Andre Anderson on October 11, 2008 against UTEP.
- Michael Batiste extended his receptions streak to ten games with a catch from Kevin Moore. Batiste is the only Green Wave receiver to do so.
- Ross Thevenot set a new career record for field goals with a 50-yard kick with 12:10 to go in the game.
- Charles Harris recorded his first collegiate fumble recovery in the fourth quarter of the contest on a ball knocked loose by Just in Adams.
- David Skehan set a new career record for tackles in a game with nine (six solo).
- J.T. McDonald finished the game with new career records in a single game for carries (12), rushing yards (41), receptions (3) and receiving yards (67).
- The loss gives Tulane back-to-back losses to UAB and marks the Green Wave's sixth straight loss.
