Hey Blogging Fans,
I am thinking message No. 4 could be my last-ever blog and it has been fun while it lasted, so here goes. The news is good. Students will start returning to campus on Sunday, along with food services, and all university employees will be back to work by Monday. Vince Granito, Sue Bower and Joe Cali will each return to New Orleans on Friday and prepare the Wilson Center and the grounds for Monday.
The Hurricane Center meteorologist is confident we will not have weather issues over the next couple of weeks. We will implement our communication tree tonight and begin the process of returning our staff and students to campus. It is imperative that everyone continue to check the Tulane emergency website (http://emergency.tulane.edu) to verify all information!
It's nice to see the finish line in all this! Great work by all and once again we all proved we got it. People everywhere have been amazingly generous and tomorrow we are being treated to "Pizza and Premier Night" (provided by former Tulane associate athletic director Scott Sidwell), as we will receive a "red carpet" private screening of "The Express" which is based on the story of Ernie Davis, the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. I am thinking of doing my George Clooney (five o'clock shadow) look for the big event!
I'd like to give a tip-of-the-hat to both Scott C. and our senior team (would be a great mayor) for their hard work, strong decision making, and to all of you and our student-athletes who really make Tulane "uniquely special."
Adios,
Rick
