Name: Megan Valicevic
Sport: Women's Basketball
What year did you graduate? 2009
1. Where do you currently reside? The Woodlands, TX
2. What is your current profession? Sales Representative for Unum. (Fortune 500 employee benefits company)
3. What is your fondest memory of your athletic career at Tulane? Winning the conference championship my sophomore year especially after struggling to get back on our feet after Katrina.
4. Do you still keep in contact with your former teammates? Yes even though we are all over the place.
5. What advice would you give to the current student athletes? When times are tough push through. At the end of the day win or lose, a Tulane degree that is practically given to you is a valuable thing when searching for a career. It helped me land a great career.
6. Do you still play your sport? I still go to 24 Hour Fitness and play pick up with the guys. I am thinking about coaching a select or AAU team on the side once I am more settled in my position at work.
7. Which student athlete, past or present, would you have liked to have had on your team? And Why? I would have loved to play with Janelle Burse or Grace Daley because I always heard great things about them from Coach Stockton. Also Barbara Farris, since she got to help Coach us the winter of my junior year. It was great getting to know her and when we would play pick-up with her, she'd dominate in the post.
8. Who is your favorite all time Tulane student athlete? Matt Forte, that boy could run and break through anything! I still enjoy watching him play for the Bears!
9. Who was the toughest opponent you faced? Arizona State my senior year. I had never played against a taller or more skilled team.
10. What is your fondest memory of Tulane/New Orleans? Playing the first ever college/professional game back in the city of New Orleans. It felt so great to win and bring fans to the game for free that were still trying to get back on their feet. Graduation was great too, having Harry Conick Jr. and Ellen DeGeneres at the ceremony made it a great close to all 4 years.
