
Shepard Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane junior middle blocker Lindsey Shepard earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Academic team for volleyball. The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native owns a cumulative GPA of 3.87 in biomedical engineering. It's the second-straight All-Academic honor for Shepard.
The 6-0 junior leads Tulane with 0.97 blocks per set and 89 total blocks this season. She ranks ninth in school history in blocks per set with 0.91 for her career and sits 12th all-time at Tulane in block assists (234) and total blocks (276) entering the C-USA tournament .
She posted back-to-back 10-plus kill efforts this season on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2, with new career highs in each match. First she tallied 10 on 23 attempts in a win at Stephen F. Austin, and then trumped that mark the following night with a 17-kill performance on 30 swings to hit a robust .567. She also turned in a nine-kill match without a single attack error against Memphis on Oct. 25 for a season-high .643 attack percentage (in matches with 10 or more attempts).
A career .290 hitter, Shepard has a career-best 151 kills this season, which is fourth on Tulane's squad. She has nearly doubling her attempts this season (380) from her freshman and sophomore years combined (395) and now has 326 kills on 775 attempts.
Off the court, Shepard has been a member of Tulane's 3.0 Club, Dean's List and Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll each semester.
Shepard was joined on the All-Academic team by Marshall's *Elizabeth Fleming (Junior, 4.00, International Affairs), Christine Bach (Junior, 4.00, MBA) and Becky Shaffer (Junior, 4.00, Chemistry/Biochemistry) of Memphis, Rice's Jessica Boulavsky (Senior, 4.00, Psychology/Pre-Med), Tracey Lam (Junior, 3.68, Economics/Asian Studies) and Jenn McClean (Senior, 3.83, Economics), Lauren Sears (Sophomore, 4.00, Mathematics) of Southern Miss, Tulsa's Jennifer Eichler (Senior, 3.57, Psychology), UAB's Andrea Lalic (Senior, 3.55, Civil Engineering) and Cassandra Burruel (Redshirt Freshman, 3.69, Biology) of UTEP.
The Green Wave (17-8 overalal) take on SMU in the quarterfinals of the C-USA Tournament on Friday.
