New Orleans - The Tulane University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics web site, TulaneGreenWave.com, was re-launched this afternoon with a new design and an easier to follow format.
The new website retains the same URL as the old site and offers a number of new features along with a sleek design and a larger photo on the home page and each sport site. The updated look features a complete makeover of the former site and includes enhanced navigation, interactive items and increased video content. Fans will continue to be able to get the latest news and information on each of Tulane's varsity athletics teams, shop the online store, bid on online auction items, browse and buy tickets to various athletic events.
One of the biggest improvements is the addition of a video player on each sport page, which will feature team highlights, coach and player interviews, press conferences and other video material for each sport.
Another addition is the Tulane Blog, which is a new feature designed by Tulane Athletics that also includes both audio of video of TU student-athletes, coaches, teams and administration, but will also feature the recently added Twitter option that allows fans to sign up and follow each of Tulane's varsity sports teams.
TulaneGreenWave.com offers free mobile text alerts to connect fans with the latest football and men's basketball headlines and scores while they're on the go. Fans can also purchase exclusive mobile wallpapers and ringtones to show off their school spirit when they're not at a game. To sign up for free mobile alerts, or to purchase ringtones and wallpapers, visit www.TulaneGreenWave.com/wireless.
Tulane Athletics also announced today that the website has added a downloadable Desktop Communicator application to their website that will enable instant awareness of information related to Tulane Athletics for fans. The Desktop Communicator delivers athletics RSS news and related content, All-Access streaming video services notices, and special ticket and merchandise offers.
The Desktop Communicator gives fans a holistic view of Tulane athletics and keeps fans one click away from the website and the latest new information due to the alerting capabilities of the program. The software is free and is available for download through the official Tulane Athletics website. It is an efficient application with a small foot print, and is available for both Personal and Macintosh computers.
As the new website is launched on Thursday, viewers may experience some technical difficulties. The service provider, CBS College Sports Interactive, will work to swiftly make the changeover.
CBS College Sports is the official multimedia partner of Conference USA and Tulane University Athletics.
