Overall thoughts on the game
"This was a good, hard-fought win for us. Pauline Love is a tremendous player. Tiffany (Aidoo) and Janique (Kautsky) did a great job of trying to get her in the right positions to double her. Toward the end of the game, she just got lose. We had her contained until then and once she got loose, we had to change our defense. It was a matter of us trying to put pressure on her and not letting the ball reverse. In the first half, I thought we did a good job of not letting the ball reverse on us so we could really double her. It created some turnovers. In the second half, they just got loose. The good thing is we were able to adjust and hold onto the lead."
On the performance of senior guard Chassity Brown
"She's phenomenal on the perimeter and does a great job of reading when she can get her hand on the pass and when she can't. You can look at her scoring, but it's so much more - handling the ball and everything. She's having a great senior year."
On the Green Wave defense attacking Southern Miss all day
"We're not very big and obviously we practice this hard and the girls play hard. What we have to do is extend the court. It's tough to go against over and over. We ask a lot of our players to extend that court and they did a great job tonight."
On Tulane tying Southern Miss in rebounding despite being the smaller team
"I felt the big stat was that at halftime, they had four offensive rebounds. They shot the ball pretty well in the first half, but four offensive rebounds for this team is a really good number for us to hold them to. They ended up with 10, but some of those were at the end when they were throwing up those 3s and they were bouncing out wide. Overall, the rebounding was very good. We just have to get position and fight. We got a few over-the-back calls today, which was great. That's all we can do."
On Tulane's next opponent, the UTEP Miners
"They're pretty good and I think they're playing very well. A lot of their scores have been very similar to ours with the opponents we've played. They can shoot the ball better than anybody in the league. When you have the two-time Player of the Year in Hughes, you know what you can expect. It's definitely going to be a nail-biter. It's going to be a very, very game and I think it's going to be a very important game for us. They're kind of sitting where we are with a couple of losses. Then we have to go to them the last game of the year for their Senior Night. Hopefully, we can get them here."
