Saturday's game marked the seventh meeting between Tulane and Tulsa on the gridiron. With the loss, the Green Wave is now 1-6 all-time against the Golden Hurricane.
Tulane's 43-yard touchdown pass from QB Ryan Griffin to WR Ryan Grant in the first quarter marked the longest pass play and touchdown of the season.
Sophomore WR Ryan Grant's 43-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter marked his career long for a reception. The score also marked the second receiving touchdown of his career and the first of the season.
Sophomore QB Ryan Griffin's 43-yard touchdown pass to WR Ryan Grant in the first quarter was the second longest touchdown pass of his career. His career long was a 46-yarder to Jeremy Williams last year at SMU on Nov. 28.
Grant's six receptions for 128 yards are both career highs. His previous career bests were five catches and 14 yards both against BYU last season.
Grant's 128 receiving yards marks the first 100-plus game for a Green Wave receiver since Jeremy Williams collected 113 yards at Rice on Nov. 14, 2009.
Senior TE Cody Sparks pulled in a 28-yard pass from Griffin in the third quarter for his second score this season.
Sparks' seven catches for 83 yards are both career-highs. His previous highs where six catches against Rutgers two weeks ago and 55 yards against UL-Monroe on Sept. 20, 2008.
Griffin's two touchdown passes against Tulsa marked his fifth multi-touchdown game of his career and the second this season. Griffin also tossed three touchdowns last week against Army. He has three touchdown passes against both UTEP and Rice last season and a two-touchdown game at SMU.
Griffin's 36 completions, 53 attempts and 412 yards are all career highs. His 412 marks his first career 400-yard game and his sixth 200-plus yard passing game of his career and the third this season.
Griffin became the first Tulane quarterback to throw for 400 yards since Lester Ricard threw for 409 against Army on Oct. 28, 2006. Griffin also became the first Tulane QB to attempt at least 50 passes since Ricard tossed 52 against UTEP on Oct. 14, 2005 and the first TU QB to complete at least 30 passes since Ricard completed 33 against Army on Oct. 28, 2006.
Freshman PK Cairo Santos nailed a 25-yard field goal in the third quarter to improve for his seventh field goal in his eighth attempt this season. He is now a perfect 4-4 in the 20-29 yard range.
Junior WR Joe Kemp both completed a pass and caught a pass in a game for the second time this season. The other time was at Rutgers two weeks ago.
Sophomore D.J. Banks' eight catches is a career-high. His previous high was seven receptions pulled down in the season-opener against Southeastern Louisiana.
Junior RB Albert Williams found the endzone on the ground for just the second time in his career and the first since he scored a rushing touchdown against UL-Monroe on Sept. 20, 2008. Williams' 17 carries in the game marked a career-high.
Sophomore middle linebacker Trent Mackey failed to post double-digit tackles for the first time this season. He had collected at least 10 tackles in five consecutive games to open the 2010 season. Mackey finished the game with a team-high seven tackles.
With nine catches for 106 yards, senior WR Casey Robottom increased his string of multiple-catch games to 15. The last time Robottom failed to post multiple catches was against McNeese State on Sept. 26, 2009, when he did not record a touch in the Louisiana Superdome.
Robottom's nine catches are a career-high. His previous high was seven catches against Ole Miss earlier this season. Robottom's 109 yards marks his second 100-plus receiving game of his career. He pulled down 115 yards against Houston on Sept. 15, 2007.
Tulane's 527 total yards on offense marks the first time the Green Wave collected over 500 yards of offense since a 521-yard performance at SMU on Oct. 20, 2007.
Four Tulane players extended their double-digit starting streaks - senior OT Pete Hendrickson with 30 straight, senior WR Casey Robottom with 24, senior CB Phillip Davis with 18, sophomore QB Ryan Griffin with 12 and sophomore LB Darryl Farley with nine.
Senior Andrew Nierman started Saturday's game at Tulsa at center, marking the 41st time in as many games that he has played in that he also started. The lone game during his time at Tulane that Nierman did not start was last season at LSU (10/31/10) when he was sidelined due to injury. Since that game, Nierman has now started nine consecutive games for the Green Wave.
