Ohashi Advances On First Day At ITA Regionals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -Takuma Ohashi, a freshman on the Tulane men's tennis, advanced onto the second day of the 2010 USTA/ITA South Regionals with a victory on Friday at the University of Alabama's Tennis Center.
Ohashi defeated Alabama's Michael Thompson, 6-0, 6-4, in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. The Auckland, New Zealand, native will face either UAB's Nick Ianuzzi or Auburn's Tim Hewitt in the round of 16 on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Rappaccioli and Joe Young also won their opening round singles matches on Friday morning, but both fell in the second round. Rappaccioli defeated Troy's Mario Rolemberg, 7-6, 6-4, before falling to Alabama's Jarryd Murray, 6-3, 6-4. Young got past Jacksonville State's Felipi Watanabe, 6-4, 6-2, in the first round and fell to UAB's Danny Manlow, 6-4, 6-4, in the second round.
The Green Wave doubles team of Idan Mark and Rappaccioli advanced to the second round with a victory over Southern Miss' Jan Bermeister and Alex Doleac, 8-5. Tulane duo then fell to LSU's Roger Anderson and Mark Bowtell, 8-4.
