TULSA, Okla. - Idan Mark, a sophomore men's tennis player for the Tulane Green Wave, will compete in the qualifying rounds of the 2010 D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships on Monday at the University of Tulsa's Case Tennis Center.
Mark, the eighth-ranked first-year player in the nation by the ITA, will play an opponent and a time yet to be determined. The bracket for the qualifying rounds will be announced late Sunday night after the prequalifying tournament concludes.
"The All-American Tournament is the first leg of the collegiate grand slams," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We're grateful that Idan was invited to compete in it. It will be a nice gauge for us and great opportunity for Idan to compete against the toughest competition in the country."
The three day qualifying tournament begins Monday and will have 128 players. Each player must win three rounds to advance to the Main Draw which means 16 players from the qualifying singles will advance for the right to compete for the championship.
Mark is 2-1 in singles play this fall for the Green Wave. The Hod Hasharon, Isreal, native began his Tulane career last weekend at the Southern Miss Invitational.
