
Former Green Wave Golfer Michael Thompson Earns Tour Card

NEW ORLEANS - The PGA Tour wrapped up on Monday, December 6th and former Tulane golfer Michael Thompson was one of 29 players to earn his TOUR card for the upcoming PGA Tour season. Thompson, who transferred to Alabama when the Green Wave dropped their program in 2005-06, led Tulane in stroke average during each of his two seasons Uptown.
Thompson was in contention for a qualifying spot on the final day of Q-School and eagled the 17th hole to secure his spot among the players to receive their TOUR card. He has played in four PGA Tour events since graduating from Alabama as a two-time All-American. He was named the 2010 Hooters Tour Player of the year after claiming one individual title and posting five other top-10 finishes in 17 events.
While at Tulane, Thompson posted a 72.6 stroke average in 69 rounds played. He led the team with a 72.4 average as a sophomore, earning an invitation to the 2005 NCAA East Regional, and tied for the team lead with a 72.9 average as a freshman. He posted four individual victories - winning three in playoffs - and earned five other top-10 finishes in his career.
