
Rob Phillips Named Director of Strength and Conditioning

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane University's athletics department named Rob Phillips as the director of strength and conditioning, it was announced on Thursday.
Phillips comes to Tulane after serving as the head strength and condition coach at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette for the past five years and spent the previous five years as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Browns of the NFL.
Phillips began his career as a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee where he spent two years with the Volunteers. His next stop was at Western Carolina University where he took on the roll of strength and conditioning coordinator for all sports from 1997 to 1999. He then spent time at the University of Miami where he served as an assistant in 1999 before being promoted to the head strength and nutrition coach in 2000.
Over his career, Phillips has participated in the 1996 & 1997 Florida Citrus Bowls, the 2000 Gator Bowl, the 2001 Nokia Sugar Bowl and the 2003 NFL Playoffs.
Phillips earned his bachelors' degree in physical education and health from Tennessee-Martin in 1995 and his masters in human performance from Tennessee-Knoxville in 1997. He is a certified strength and conditioning coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
