LAFAYETTE, La. - Tulane men's tennis players Joe Young and Coby Kramer Golinkoff each captured individual singles titles on Sunday at the Ragin' Cajun Invitational hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette at the Cajun Courts Tennis Complex.
"Congratulations to Coby and Joe on winning their singles draws this weekend," Green Wave head coach Mark Booras said. "Coming away with two out of three singles titles in the first tournament of the fall is a great start for our team in establishing the depth we'll need to compete against our tough spring schedule."
Young claimed the title in Flight B with a come-from-behind victory over fellow Green Wave teammate Holgar Norregaard, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
"Joe did a good job of finding a way to get himself back into the match after a quick start by Holger, and he held on for a win in the third set," Booras said.
Kramer-Golinkoff earned his victory in Flight C, 7-5, 6-0, over ULL's Brandon Farine.
"Coby took care of business today against a big serving lefty opponent, which can often be difficult game style to play against," Booras added. "He weathered the storm in the first set and jumped out to a big lead in the second set taking the air out of the other guy's sails."
Tulane will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., next weekend for the three-day Southern Miss Invitational.
"We'll be looking to carry this momentum into next weekend's tournament so we can continue to build confidence amongst our team," Booras concluded.
