Looking at the Green Wave
Tulane has been playing their best volleyball of late, winning a pair of three-set decisions over East Carolina and Southern Miss to move their overall record to 8-12 and their C-USA mark to 3-6. The Green Wave has shown more consistency on the front lines and their defense has really stepped up in the last two matches.
In conference play this season, Izabela Grot has led the way for the Tulane attack, compiling 91 kills in 34 sets. The redshirt-junior has added 19 blocks to compile 100.5 points in nine matches. Cori Martone leads the team with 114 points in Conference USA play, boasting 91 kills, seven service aces and 27 blocks in her nine conference games.
Over the past two matches, Milica Jovic and Grot have been on top of their games. The duo has combined for 49 kills and ten blocks, while both own attacking percentages of over .400. Jovic leads the team with 26 kills, hitting at a .412 clip, while Grot paces the team with a .455 attacking percentage and ranks second with 23 kills
Scouting the Knights
UCF is one of the top attacking teams in Conference USA and setter Rachel Vukson ranks second nationally in assists per-set at 12.27 helpers a frame. The Knights are currently ranked second in the conference in assists per-set (13.44) and kills per-set (14.31), trailing Tulsa in each category and rank third in opponents hitting percentage.
Vuckson leads the attack for the Knights with 859 total assists, with over one-third of those going to sophomore outside hitter Angelica Crump. Crump has 301 kills on 714 attacks, with just 98 errors, to account for a .284 hitting percentage. Evija Vilde ranks second on the team with 231 kills and Kayla Keller has posted 119 successful attacks.
Scouting the Miners
UTEP opened the season with eight straight wins and sat at 5-2 in Conference USA play entering last weekend, but a pair of losses in Houston that mark is now 5-4. Overall the Miners are 15-7 and their conference mark put them in a tie for fifth in C-USA. They sit tied for third in opponents hitting percentage (.171), are third in blocks (2.46 bps) and are the second toughest serving team in the conference with 1.33 service aces per-set.
Sophomore Xitlali Herrara paces the squad in kills (256), points (328.0) and blocks (106), while ranking second on the team in digs (220). The transfer from Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juárez ranks 25th nationally in blocking and is among the nation's most efficient attackers with a .334 hitting percentage.
