Men's Tennis Comes Up Short at SMU

DALLAS, Texas - Idan Mark and Adam Bernstein earned singles victories for the Tulane men's tennis team on Sunday afternoon, but the Green Wave fell, 5-2, to SMU in a Conference USA dual match at the Turpin Tennis Center.
Tulane's (5-8, 0-4 C-USA) Mark defeated SMU's (10-5, 3-1 C-USA) David Costa, 6-3, 6-2, on court one to give the Green Wave the first point of the afternoon. Bernstein defeated Bryan Griffin, 7-6, 6-1, on court five for the second point of the match.
Mark also teamed with Joe Young in doubles to defeated SMU's Tobias Flood and Joseph Hattrup, 8-5, on court one to improve to a perfect 3-0 this season in doubles. Despite the victory, Tulane was not able to take the doubles point as SMU won on courts two and three.
The deciding point of the match came when Adham el-Effendi defeated Takuma Ohashi, 6-3, 6-3, on court three, giving the Mustangs their fourth point of the match.
Tulane will return to action Tuesday when they host Nicholls State at 1 p.m. CDT in the final match of the spring season at the Goldring Tennis Center.
