NEW ORLEANS - Idan Mark, a junior on the Tulane men's tennis team, has been tabbed as the 50th-ranked singles player in the nation in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Division I Men's Singles Rankings, it was announced Tuesday.
Mark, who was ranked as high as 89th during last spring, posted an overall singles record of 19-11, including a 7-4 mark in tournament play during the Fall. He closed out last Fall with four wins in his final five matches, including reaching the semifinals of his flight at the Crimson Tide Invitational.
"We are really excited that our team and Idan received this type of recognition," Tulane's third-year head coach Mark Booras said. "It is a testament to the way our program is progressing in our rebuilding efforts. It is our hope to keep on seeing more players jump in the rankings and move up as we continue to progress."
The Green Wave posted an 11-11 overall record last Spring in dual matches in the program's second year back.
Mark and Tulane open the 2011-12 schedule this weekend at the UNC Wilmington Invitational that gets underway Friday.
