Men's Tennis Claims Two Titles at UNCW Invitational

WILMINGTON, N.C. -Sophomore Takuma Ohashi and the doubles team of junior Idan Mark and Joe Young claimed titles for the Tulane men's tennis team on Sunday afternoon at the 2011 UNCW Fall Invitational played at the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex.
Ohashi posted a perfect 4-0 singles record on the weekend, capped by a 6-4, 7-6, victory over No. 4 seed Ilja Orre of William & Mary in Flight C on Sunday afternoon. Mark and Young, the No. 3 seed, also posted a 4-0 record, including an 8-6 victory over the top seeded pair of Chris Cooprider and Costa Blank of host UNC Wilmington.
Freshman Iain Sneddon was not able to win the Flight D title, but posted a 3-1 weekend in his first appearance as a collegiate tennis player. Sneddon, from London, Ontario, fell to No. 4 seed Zach Hublitz of UNCW, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, in Sunday's title match.
Junior Etham Frenkel, who lost his first match Friday, rebounded to win the consolation title on Flight D after Sunday's 6-4, 6-2, victory over Coastal Carolina's Mo Hookaylo.
Junior Rodrigo Rappaccioli also posted a 3-1 singles record during the weekend, including a 6-3, 6-2, consolation victory over Coastal Carolina's Matias Di Pasquale on Sunday.
Overall as a team the Green Wave posted a 23-11 singles record and a 9-6 mark in doubles during the three-day tournament.
Tulane returns to the courts Sept. 30- Oct. 2 at the Rice Invitational in Houston, Texas.
