NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane track and field program will open the outdoor portion of their schedule on March 1 at Tad Gormley Stadium, run eight more regular season meets and culminated the guaranteed portion of their schedule by hosting the 2012 Conference USA Championships at the City Park venue. Head coach Eric Peterson has devised a schedule that will feature nine regular season meets in five different states to test his seasoned squad.
For the second straight season, the Green Wave will open the outdoor season by hosting the Tulane Team Challenge at Tad Gormley Stadium on the first day of March. After a two week break for the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Olive and Blue will take a trip to the West Coast to compete in the Aztec Invitational on March 15-17 at the SDSU Sports Deck. The LSU Relays (March 23-24) and the Jaguar Invitational (March 31) will close out the opening month of the season for the men's and women's programs.
A trip to James G. Pressly Stadium for the Pepsi Florida Relays will kick off the month of April for the Olive and Blue, running in Gainesville, Fla. on April 6-7. Tulane will welcome their conference brethren to Tad Gormley Stadium on May 11-14, just as they did during the 2000 season when the championships were contested at the same site. The NCAA National Championships will be contested in Des Moines, Iowa at Drake Stadium to open the month of June. The festivities begin on Wednesday, June 6 and run through Saturday, June 9, with Ana Ruzevic looking to make her fourth straight appearance at the championships in the javelin, this time at Drake Stadium.
