NEW ORLEANS - Tulane's men's tennis team begins the final stretch of the 2012 spring season on Saturday when they host No. 56 Middle Tennessee State at 1 p.m. CT at the Goldring Tennis Center in the first of three home matches to close out the regular season.
The Green Wave (10-8, 3-4 C-USA) has won two of the last three outings, including a 4-0 victory over conference foe East Carolina last Sunday in Birmingham. Tulane has also posted a 9-2 home record with six wins at home in the last seven matches.
The Blue Raiders (12-6, 5-0 SBC) enter the match having won four straight matches since falling at Memphis on March 24.
"MTSU has had a really strong year and we are excited to have them at our place," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We hope to build on the momentum we gained last weekend with a conference win over East Carolina."
Tulane has gained momentum in doubles as well after earning the point in doubles in each of the last three matches. The duo of Idan Mark and Joe Young lead the way with an 18-8 overall record, including 11-5 in the spring. The pair has won eight straight matches, while Rodrigo Rappaccioli and Shaye Wali have teamed up for an 8-7 dual match record with three straight victories.
Mark, Rappaccioli and Adam Bernstein each own an 8-6 singles record this spring and Bernstein has won two straight matches.
Tulane will close out the regular season at home next weekend with a match against UL-Lafayette on Saturday and a match against Tulsa on Sunday.
