FORT MYERS, Fla. - Five members of the Tulane men's tennis team are set to complete in this weekend's third annual Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Fall Invitational held at the FGCU Tennis Center.
Senior Iain Sneddon, juniors Alex and Ian Van Cott, sophomore Sebastian Rey and freshman Constantin Schmitz will take to the courts for the Green Wave in the tournament that gets underway on Friday. The field includes student-athletes from 10 other schools, including Arkansas, Barry University, Boston College, UCF, Florida Atlantic, Nicholls State, Princeton, Saint Leo, Texas-Arlington and the host FGCU.
"We've had some nice results over the past few weekends of tournaments and we are just looking to build upon that with another good showing this weekend," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We have a lot of tough teams coming from big conferences so we know that we will be pushed in every draw. We are excited about another opportunity to compete and get better."
Rey and Schmitz will play in the singles A Draw, while the Van Cott twins will both play in the B Draw. Sneddon is slated to play in the D Draw.
Rey and Schmitz will also pair up for doubles and are in the A Draw, while the Van Cotts will complete together in the B Draw in doubles.
So far this fall, Tulane has collected 37 singles wins and 10 doubles victories. Alex Van Cott leads the Green Wave in action this weekend with six singles wins, while Rey and Ian Van Cott each have four. The Van Cott doubles team has earned four wins this fall as well.
