TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Below are results from day one action of the Roberta Alison Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Alabama. The tournament features 19 different schools with players scattered in different doubles and singles draws, with each draw consisting of eight entries. Tulane Day One Highlights: Kyla Klier and Meredith Maltby went 2-0 in singles each, setting up a Tulane showdown between the two in the Jenny Whalen draw. Klier earned a first round 6-3, 6-2, straight set victory over UAB's Amy Lowther, then downed Tennessee Chattanooga's Rachel Gazzola, 7-6(7), 6-4. Meanwhile, Meredith Maltby toughed out a third set super tiebreak to advance to the second round, besting Toni Ormond of Ball State, 6-2, 1-6, 10-5. Maltby then delivered a swift 6-3, 6-3 win over Samford's Carita Moolman.
In addition, the following Green Wave competitors bounced back with a second round win after a first round loss: Ipek Birol, Vanessa Nommensen, Naz Karagoz, Zoe Gaber.
