Thursday's game marked the 11th meeting between Tulane and Tulsa and the first as members of the American Athletic Conference. Tulsa now leads the series 9-2.
Thursday's game is Tulane's sixth overtime game in school history and the first since the Green Wave defeated East Carolina, 36-33, in triple-overtime on Oct. 5, 2013. Tulane is now 4-2 in overtime contests.
First time starters in Thursday's game included RS-freshman Tanner Lee, RS-freshman Sherman Badie, freshman TE Trey Scott, sophomore RB Lazedrick Thompson, sophomore LG Colton Hanson, freshman DE Daren Williams, sophomore DT Tanzel Smart, senior CB Taurean Nixon (first start at Tulane, started games for Memphis).

A total of five Tulane players extended their double-digit starting streaks on Thursday against Tulsa. Junior FS Darion Monroe (26), junior CB Lorenzo Doss (15), senior SS Sam Scofield (14), junior OL Arturo Uzdavinis (14) and senior WR Justyn Shackleford (12).
RB Sherman Badie's 90-yard touchdown run with 6:51 remaining in the second quarter was the longest rushing play from scrimmage for Tulane since Jerald Sowell scampered 98 yards for a score at Alabama on Sept. 4, 1993.
Badie, a redshirt freshman, collected 216 yards rushing in his collegiate debut, becoming the first freshman to record a 100-plus yard rushing game since Orleans Darkwa gained 129 yards on 20 carries on Nov. 20, 2010 vs. UCF. Badie's total of 215 also surpassed the Tulane record by a freshman making his debut. He passed the mark of 138 by Jerald Sowell against Alabama on Sept. 4, 1993.
Badie's 215 yards were the most by a Green Wave player since Andre Anderson collected 255 against UTEP on Oct. 11, 2008. Badie's total are the second most by a freshman in Tulane history. Matt Forte rushed for 216 against Army on Nov. 16, 2004.
QB Tanner Lee tossed his first career touchdown with 3:43 remaining in the first quarter. The 15-yard pass was pulled down by freshman TE Charles Jones for his first receiving touchdown.
Lee's three touchdown passes are of the most by a Tulane freshman since Ryan Griffin threw for three scores against Rice on Nov. 14, 2009.
Senior RB Dante Butler pulled in a one-yard pass from Tanner Lee with 9:56 left in the second quarter for Butler's first career touchdown.
Senior WR Justyn Shackleford pulled down eight receptions for 113 yards, marking his third career 100-plus yard receiving game of his career.
Senior S Sam Scofield collected a game-high 14 tackles on Thursday, marking his eighth double-digit tackles game of his career.
With the two interceptions in tonight's game, Tulane has now collected at least two picks in seven of the last 13 games, including six times last season.
Tulane's game captains for the game were P Peter Picerelli, DE Tyler Gilbert and OT Sean Donnelly.
