NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's tennis duo of Dominik Koepfer and Jao Chi-Shan received a preseason No. 30 doubles ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and Koepfer was tabbed 98th in the preseason singles rankings, it was announced by the organization this week.
"It's a nice starting point for our guys this year," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "They've worked really hard in the offseason, so they are expecting the good results to continue this year."
Koepfer, a junior from Furtwangen, Germany, and Chi-Shan, a sophomore from Taipei City, posted a 16-6 dual match record during the 2014 spring season. The doubles pair also won three matches over ranked opponents during the spring, including wins over top 30 teams from USF and UTSA.
In singles, Koepfer posted a 21-8 overall record, including a record of 16-5 in the spring with 11 straight wins to open the season.
Koepfer and Chi-Shan, along with their six teammates - sophomore Sebastian Rey, senior Cedric Rutsaert, freshman Constantin Schmitz, senior Iain Sneddon, junior Alex Van Cott and junior Ian Van Cott - open the fall season next weekend with tournaments at Rice University and Princeton University.
