Opening Statement: "Thank you guys for coming out to the game. I thought coach [David] Cutcliffe's team was very well coached and a very good football team. They ran the ball well on us. The quarterback is outstanding. The receiver [Jamison Crowder] is going to be, I think, a high-round draft choice. I thought their defense played stout today. They're a good football team. I'd like to be there in a couple of years where they are right now. We're playing a lot of young kids, and I know they did that a couple of years ago and it turned out well for them. That's what we're starting to get. That's a model program of what we aspire to be."
On the similarities between Duke and Tulane as schools: "I think Duke is a program that you look at. The academics are pretty tough and are tough at Tulane. Very similar. When he [Cutcliffe] first got here, they struggled a little bit. They began to get some freshmen in there and played some kids early on, and those kids are starting to play really, really well. I think he has an outstanding football team, and that is where we have to get to. We are not there yet. I'm not trying to take anything away from them, but they are a heck of a team. Our kids are just ... a lot of young kids playing right now. And we were making a lot of mistakes, also."
On the struggles of quarterback Tanner Lee: "I thought Duke did a good job of switching its schemes up. I thought when we were in makeable yards that he had opportunities to make those third downs. When they had a sack or we had negative yardage play, you ask a young kid - a freshman against a great defense like Duke - you ask him to go third-and-15, he's probably not going to do well in doing those things. He'll be better. We just have to continue to cut the penalties out and improve with him, but just don't get him in third-and-15, third-and-12, or third-and-10. If we don't do that, we'll have a chance of making those third-down conversions."
On what makes Jamison Crowder such a special player: "He's an outstanding talent. He's just a player. You guys have something special."
