NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's tennis program splits up again for a pair of events this weekend with four members of the team going to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall tournament that gets underway on Friday, while four other team members will travel to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-American Qualifying tournament that kicks off on Saturday.
"We have another great weekend of tennis ahead of us," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We started this fall season out with four really challenging tournaments and after last weekend, we have a nice gauge of where our guys stood. We had a few days of practice to work on some things and now the guys are thrown right back into the fire. These tournaments have a lot of top teams and players and it will be a great opportunity for us."
Iain Sneddon, Cedric Rutsaert, Ian Van Cott and Alex Van Cott will be in Alabama. They will compete in three 16-player draws in singles and three eight-team doubles draws. In addition to players from host Alabama, competitors from Dartmouth, Florida State, Illinois, Middle Tennessee State, Notre Dame, Princeton, Rice, Samford, South Alabama and UAB will complete the field.
Dominik Koepfer, the 98th ranked singles player in the ITA, Chi-Shan Jao, Sebastian Rey and Constantin Schmitz will all be in Tulsa. Jao, Rey and Schmitz will each play in singles on Saturday in the ITA All-American pre-qualification round. The three must win four matches to advance out of the pre-qualifying rounds and join Koepfer in Monday's ITA All-American Qualifying.
The duo of Koepfer and Jao, the 30th ranked doubles team, will play in the ITA All-American Qualifying on Tuesday.
If any of the Green Wave advance through the qualifying rounds, the ITA All-American Main Draw will be held in Tulsa from Oct. 2-5.
