NOTES FOLLOWING TULANE FOOTBALL'S 31-14 LOSS AT NAVY
Navy 31, Tulane 14
Tulane Game 7
Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium
Annapolis, Maryland
* Saturday's game at Navy marks the 20th meeting on the gridiron between the Green Wave and the Midshipmen. The two schools have not met since 2005. Tulane still leads the series 11-8-1. It marked the first time the two teams met as members of the American Athletic Conference.
* Navy marks the second school this season that Tulane has faced that runs the triple-option offense. Tulane faced Georgia Tech back on Sept. 12 in Atlanta. Tulane will square off against another triple-option offense on Nov. 14 when they head to West Point, New York, for a contest against Army.
* Tulane's defense held Navy to just 44 rushing yards in the first half, marking the first time the Midshipmen had been held under 100 since playing Western Kentucky in 2013.
* For just the third time in 44 games under head coach Curtis Johnson, Tulane failed to record a turnover. The only two other games in which the Green Wave defense did not notch an interception or a fumble recovery came at Syracuse in 2013 and at East Carolina in 2014.
* Tulane's defense posted 11.0 tackles for loss on the afternoon at Navy, marking the second-most in a game this season. Tulane totaled 12.0 against UCF on Oct. 3 and 12.0 at Temple the following week on Oct. 10.
* Sophomore TE Trey Scott caught a 23-yard pass from redshirt-sophomore QB Tanner Lee in the second quarter, marking a career-long for the tight end. Scott finished with two receptions for 29 yards.
* Sophomore WR Teddy Veal hauled in six passes for 59 yards on the afternoon, marking the fifth game this season in which the sophomore has five catches or more.
* Redshirt-senior QB Jordy Joseph notched his first career touchdown pass with 0:26 remaining in the contest, as he found sophomore TE Charles Jones on a 13-yard strike.
* Redshirt-junior Calvin Thomas picked up a sack in the second quarter against Navy, marking his first sack since the 2012 season.
* One player made his first career start at Navy in freshman WR Andrew Hicks.
* Eight Tulane players extended their double-digit starting streaks on Friday against Houston: OT Arturo Uzdavinis (32), OG Chris Taylor (22), LB Nico Marley (20), OG Colton Hanson (19), DT Tanzel Smart (19), DE Royce LaFrance (18) and CB Parry Nickerson (18).
* Tulane's game captains for Saturday's contest at Navy are junior LB Nico Marley, sophomore RB Dontrell Hilliard and sophomore PK Andrew DiRocco.
