WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Tulane men's tennis foursome of Alex and Ian Van Cott, Eric Wagner and Tyler Schick returned to the courts at UNCW on Saturday for day two action of the Seahawk Invitational. The Green Wave recorded an improved performance today, notching three singles victories in four opportunities, while splitting doubles.
Ian Van Cott and Schick started their day with a 6-4 doubles win vs. Richmond's Caleb Troy and Brice Polender. However, the other Wave tandem of Wagner and Alex Van Cott couldn't produce the same result, falling 6-1, to Richmond's Alexandre Felisa and Jonathan Quenard.
In singles, the Olive and Blue took on foes from USC Upstate. After dropping the first set 6-2 to Ramon Simonetti, Alex bounced back with identical 6-4 sets to claim the match in three. Meanwhile, his brother Ian rolled to a 6-4, 6-0 win over Ignacio Garrido. Finally Wagner rounded out the Wave's winning with a 7-6, 6-4 victory vs. Matt Bennion.
Tulane has one more day of competition out in North Carolina before returning home to New Orleans. On Sunday, the Green Wave will get things going against NC State in doubles before clashing with Richmond in singles.
