Nov 12, 2015 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's tennis team is quite active this week as the Green Wave have been split into three different cities, competing in various tournaments. However, leading the way is senior Dominik Koepfer, who advanced to the Round of 16 on Thursday at the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, New York.
Koepfer, who is the No. 3 overall seed of the prestigious fall tournament, defeated Ohio State's Chris Diaz, 6-1, 6-4. The Germany native will resume his quest for a national title on Friday at 9:15 a.m. CT, when he clashes with Wake Forest's Skander Mansouri, who defeated TCU's Guillermo Nunez, 6-3, 7-5.
Tulane sophomore Constantin Schmitz was also in action on Thursday, competing in the second round of the singles main draw of the Niceville Futures Tournament. A day after knocking off the No. 354th ranked player in the world and earning his first career ATP point, Schmitz's run in the tournament came to a close via a 7-5, 6-1, loss to Andrew Carter.
Thus, as Schmitz's tournament came to a close, several Green Wave in the meanwhile will begin action on Friday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, at the 2015 CCB Collegiate Invitational. Chi-Shan Jao, Ian Van Cott, Tyler Schick and Eric Wagner will all be competing in respective singles and doubles draws, lasting the next three days. In doubles, Jao will partner with Schick as Van Cott teams with Wagner.
