HOUSTON - After placing second in last weekend's Wildcat Invitational, the Tulane bowling team gets right back to action this weekend at the Stormin' Lady Jack Classic that gets underway on Friday at the Palace Lanes.
The Green Wave (44-36) starts the competition with six Baker total pins matches on Friday, followed by five team games on Saturday. Tournament play finishes on Sunday with Baker best four-of-seven play.
Tulane is joined in Houston by 16 other teams, including 11 nationally ranked opponents. The Green Wave will compete in the Purple Pool along with host and fifth-ranked Stephen F. Austin, No. 6 Vanderbilt, No. 7 Sam Houston State, top-ranked Nebraska, Monmouth, Louisiana Tech, fourth-ranked Central Missouri, and No. 9 Wisconsin-Whitewater. The White Pool features No. 16 UAB, 15th-ranked Long Island, No. 8 Maryland-Eastern Shore, Prairie View A&M, No. 12 Sacred Heart, Southern, No. 14 St. Francis College, and Texas Southern.
Angela Falgoust, a sophomore for Tulane, leads all Green Wave bowlers in total pin average with 188.66. Freshmen Sarah Forton and Michelle Ng are right behind her with total pin averages of 187.70 and 186.67, respectively.
Tulane is coming off a strong showing at the Wildcat Invitational in Deland, Fla. this past weekend, where they placed second out of six teams.
"I am definitely pleased with the outcome of the Wildcat after a tough start, so this weekend we will make sure to start stronger," commented Tulane head coach Hayley Veitch. "Bowling in back-to-back tournaments is physically and mentally tiring, so the plan is to get as much rest as possible this week to be ready for the weekend."
After this tournament, the Green Wave team has three weeks off before heading to Smyrna, Tennessee, where they will compete in the Columbia 300 Music City Classic from March 6-8.
