IOWA CITY, Iowa - Tulane University diver Lauren Arnold wrapped up her stay at the 2015 NCAA Zone D Championship with a 187.80 from the platform on Wednesday at the University of Iowa Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.
That junior from Victoria, Australia, finished 25th among the divers competing and her score ranks eighth in the Tulane record book. Making her second-consecutive appearance in the Zone Meet, Arnold leaves the event after scoring a 254.10 to place 34th from the three-meter springboard on Monday and a 226.65 from the one-meter elevation to finish 44th overall yesterday.
"Today was a solid day, and Lauren was very solid during the meet overall," Tulane diving coach Chris Devine said. "She missed one dive today and because we don't get up on the tower too often, her list doesn't have very good degree of difficulty. One missed dive can really take you out of a contest like this. If she had hit it, she probably would have made the finals."
Arnold earned the 2015 invitation after posting a school record in both the one-meter springboard with a 293.02 at TCU back on Sept. 27 to go with a season-best 278.10 on the three-meter elevation against Vanderbilt on Nov. 2. At the 2015 American Athletic Conference Championship, Arnold earned third-team all-conference honors in the platform with a 192.05 while coming in 11th in the one meter (234.40) and 12th in the three-meter (254.50).
During the 2014 Zone Meet in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Arnold scored a 227.20 on the one-meter springboard and 246.20 in the three meter while setting a school record for a six-dive platform list with a 211.55.
Arnold is one of two members of the Tulane swimming and diving team to participate in the NCAA postseason as junior Mia Schachter was invited to the NCAA Championship from March 19-21 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Schachter earned the invite with a provisional-cut time of 1:00.24 in the 100 breaststroke, and will compete in that event as well as the 50 and 100 freestyles.
