NEW ORLEANS - Back in February, The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced the class for their 13th annual `So You Want To Be A Coach' program. Tulane senior guard Danielle Blagg made the prestigious list, as the lone player chosen from the American Athletic Conference. Blagg will participate in a three-day workshop from April 3-5 in conjunction with the WBCA National Convention in Tampa, Florida.
"Being a part of this program is an exciting opportunity for me to explore the other side of basketball from a coaches perspective," Blagg said. "I'm excited to learn from some of the best coaches in the country as well as meet other athletes who are looking to begin a career in coaching. The chance to get to go to Tampa and experience the Final Four is something I'm definitely looking forward to."
The `So' program was created to increase the understanding and application of skills necessary to secure coaching positions in women's basketball, along with increasing the understanding and awareness of competencies necessary for success in coaching.
Participants will learn about recruiting, the administrative side to coaching, how to get hired, skill development, and how to balance work and life. The qualified candidates chosen must have exhausted their final year of eligibility and was selected based on her academics, contributions to women's basketball on and off the court, and professional resume.
Be sure to check in with the women's basketball site on www.TulaneGreenWave.com for Blagg will write a daily blog detailing her experiences in Tampa.
