Question: What made you choose Tulane?
Answer: I felt like it would be a good fit. After developing a relationship with the coaching staff, I felt like I could trust them, and they could push me, and make me better. It has good academics, and I feel like being here at Tulane could help me reach the next level. I got to see them play Memphis at the Smoothie King Center on my visit too, so that was nice.
Q: How would you describe your transition from high school to college athletics?
A: It was easy actually, because the last high school I went to, St. Rita’s in Chicago, we had a strength and conditioning coach, it was structured, and there was a set time for everything. Just like college. My coach used to be a college coach, so that transition has been so smooth for me.
Q: So I read you won back-to-back state championships as a sophomore and junior, what made you transfer to St. Rita’s as a senior?
A: Public school was good as far as basketball, but academics wise, it wasn’t a challenge for me. I knew college wouldn’t be anything like that, so I wanted to prepare myself the best I could, and still be able to play basketball at a high level.
Q: What do you like most about Tulane so far?
A: I like the weather, the food, and the people here. Everybody’s nice they’ve embraced me. Just the overall environment.
Q: Where is your favorite place to go in New Orleans?
A: Just the downtown area. I like being there. Canal Street. When I first came on my visit I stayed down there with my mom, and had all kinds of good seafood.
Q: What are you thinking about studying?
A: Maybe Digital Media. I like being on computers, and designing stuff.
Q: Do you have any specific goals for yourself this year?
A: Personally I want to win freshman of the year in the AAC, and I want to be first team All Conference. As a team I want to win everything, make the tournament, and try to make a deep run.
Q: If you were stuck on a deserted island, and you only had three things, what would they be?
A: My family, some good music, and a basketball. I’ll use my survival skills for everything else.
Fun fact: A fun fact is I like shoes, and I like to switch it up pretty often. I’m not sure how many pairs, but I’ve got a growing collection.
