NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's swimming and diving team was again honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), after being named a Scholar All-America team. The squad was one of 172 Division I women's programs honored for earning a Spring semester GPA of 3.0 or better.
"We are honored to be awarded this distinction again for our Spring 2015 semester," Head Coach Katie Robinson said. "Tulane University is a top-ranked academic institution that challenges our student-athletes in outstanding and impactful ways. To have our team earn such a high GPA is truly an accomplishment that I value on the same level as an athletic win for our program. These women have earned it through their hard work and commitment to being the best student they can be, while managing an extremely taxing athletic schedule. Special thanks goes out to our academic service center staff, specifically Micahla Williams, who works diligently with our student-athletes to provide all the resources for them to be successful in the classroom. We are so proud of our women and their level of ambition in the academic realm."
The Green Wave boasted a 3.44 team GPA last semester, earning Scholar All-America status for the seventh straight season. Joy Jason finished out the academic year with another 4.0 performance in the classroom. Claire Schelske, Amy Needham, Holly Grender, Rachel Schneider, Laura Turpen, Morgan Evans, Tirol Palmer, Maren Kjell, Emma Lincoln, Alex Lakota and Roni Meyer also contributed greatly to the team's overall academic success as each of these 11 members of the squad earned a 3.5 or better in the Spring.
