Summer Blog Series: Jacqui Katz

Hi Tulane fans,
As the summer is rapidly coming to an end, I am preparing for classes and practice to start! Prior to returning to Nola, my family and I took a five-day trip to Arizona. After checking into the hotel and exploring the resort, I was anxious to play tennis with my dad, as the scenery and courts were beautiful. Thereafter, our days were chock full of sightseeing and activities. Our first day in Arizona we drove two hours to explore the Grand Canyon. We saw the Canyon on foot and with a guide on a Pink Jeep Tour. In the subsequent days we went mountain biking, hiked multiple trails both on and off hotel property, visited a winery, saw multiple ancient ruins, went off-roading on another Pink Jeep Tour, and visited an old ghost town. We even ran into a Tulane alum on one of our hikes! I couldn't have asked for a better way to end my summer with my family.
Wanting to start getting used to the heat and humidity down here, my mom and I drove from New York so I could finally have a car! The drive took us a total of 19 hours, which we split up into two different days. The first day we drove 12 hours, spending the night in Chattanooga. Neither my mom nor I have ever driven more than 6 hours! We were both proud of how far we got. Needless to say, by the end of the second day, we could not wait to get out of the car. Now that I'm back and settled, I have been practicing, lifting, and running with Sade and Zoe. Naz just returned as well and will soon be joining the action. We can't wait for everyone to get back and really get started! Coach is also so anxious for the season to start. We like to go visit and bother her in her office...but she loves it!
