Women’s Tennis’ Sade Atkinson Shines in Day One of ITA Southern Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Tulane women's tennis team competed in the opening day of action on Friday at the ITA Southern Regional, hosted by the University of Alabama. Highlighting the day for the Green Wave was junior Sade Atkinson, who went unblemished with a 3-0 record. In doubles, Atkinson and Naz Karagoz defeated Louisiana Tech's Britos/Sramkova, 8-6, to advance to the second round. Later, in the singles main draw, Atkinson was the lone Green Wave competitor to reach the round of 16, knocking off Sramkova then No. 51 Natalie Suk of Ole Miss, marking her first ranked win of her career.
Atkinson will resume action on Saturday when she tries to earn a berth into the quarterfinals when she squares off against No. 9-16 seeded Stefana Andrei.
