Football Closes Out Practice Week for Road Test at Tulsa
Oct 20, 2016 | Football
NEW ORLEANS - Tulane football capped off its week of workouts to get ready to face Tulsa with a two-hour practice at Yulman Stadium on Thursday morning.
"We had a good workout today. We have to be able to do that every single day," said head coach Willie Fritz. "We're starting to have the rhythm we're going to have the next six weeks."
That six-week stretch for Tulane (3-3, 0-2 American Athletic Conference | West) starts with another road test against a talented Tulsa squad looking to upend the Green Wave on its homecoming. Kickoff on Saturday is set for 2:45 p.m. CT on ESPNU. Both Tulsa (4-2, 1-1 The American | West) and Tulane enter this matchup looking to make some waves in the conference standings as the season moves past the midway point.
Fritz emphasized that the formula remains the said for the Green Wave to have success and get that first victory in conference play this season.
"Number one, we have to do a good job of catching the ball on punts and kicks," said Fritz. "We have to get bodies on bodies (in special teams). Defensively, we have to do a good job of getting lined up before they get lined up and not get relaxed when the play is over. And then offensively, we have to do a good job of limiting our missed assignments."
The Olive and Blue return to the friendly confines of Yulman Stadium for homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 29 against SMU. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CT on ESPNews. Tickets for that game can be purchased by clicking here to purchase, calling 504-861-WAVE (9283) or visiting the Tulane Ticket Office, located on the first floor of the James W.
