New Orleans - Tulane bowling inked its first signee of the 2017 season earlier today, with the Green Wave nabbing rising star Madison McCall.
McCall comes to Tulane from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where she is set to graduate from the Academy of Arts, Science & Technology in the spring of 2017.
"Madison is a great fit for Tulane and the bowling program and we are excited to have her on the team next year," said head coach Hayley Veitch. "She will bring a great team dynamic and work ethic. Madison and her family have a very strong athletic background and know what it takes to contribute to a successful program."
McCall has had an illustrious high school bowling career, earning multiple championship wins over the past two years. McCall took home gold at the North Carolina Pepsi Bowling Sectionals in 2015 and again in 2016, before placing fifth at the 2016 State Bowling Championships. She also earned the top prize at the 2015 Amateur Bowlers Tour Stop in North Carolina.
Her impressive performances earned her a spot on the North Carolina State All-Star Bowling team in 2015 and 2016. Some of her other accolades include the 2015 Tough Shot Tour High Score Award and the 2015/16 North Carolina All-Star High Series Award. McCall's current career high is 279 pins, while her average sits at 189 pins. Â Â
In addition to her successful bowling career, McCall is a decorated gymnast. As a member of the USAG South Carolina State Gymnastics Team, McCall earned 15 championship event titles and 4 all-around state titles. She was also a five-time regional qualifier and regional vault champion.
McCall is an active member of her community, serving as a volunteer coach for both the North Myrtle Beach Youth Volleyball League and the Planet Fun Youth League.
McCall will join the Green Wave in the fall of 2017, where she will look to help the program continue its growth. The Tulane Bowling program is excited to welcome her to the team.
