HARAHAN, La. – The No. 17 Tulane bowling program opened its own Colonial Lanes Classic Friday with a strong showing, posting a 4-1 record to sit in fourth in the standings upon day's end. The Green Wave amassed 4,728 total pins across five sets of five Baker matches at Colonial Lanes.
Â
Tulane is a part of a four-team bunch at the top of the standings with No. 7 Louisiana Tech leading the 14-team field with a 5-0 record and 4,856 pins. No. 8 Sam Houston is second with a score of 4,783 and a 5-0 mark. Alabama State is the final team ahead of Tulane with 4,732 pins, just four more than the Wave. The Hornets were 2-3 with one of the losses coming to Tulane. The Wave is fourth with 4,728 pins and leads 5-0 No. 9 North Carolina A&T by nearly 100, as the Aggies are fifth with a score of 4,650.
Â
The day began with a strong victory over Alabama A&M, 956-874. Tulane followed with another big win, 936-854, over Emmanuel. The third match saw Tulane's toughest test of the day as the Wave squared off against No. 9 North Carolina A&T. In a tight contest, the Aggies narrowly escaped with the win, 966-945. This would be Tulane's lone loss of the day, as the Wave promptly bounced back to best Florida A&M 981-821 before toppling Alabama State 910-865.
