NEW ORLEANSÂ - Tulane football opened the week with a spirited, two-hour practice at Yulman Stadium on Tuesday morning in preparation for its home finale on Saturday against Temple. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on the American Sports Network and ESPN3.
"We had a good morning," said head coach Willie Fritz. "We're getting to where we are a little thin on numbers, particularly at some positions. There were some guys having to play different spots and scout team. They did a very good job."
The Green Wave (3-7, 0-6 American Athletic Conference | West) face a Temple squad trying to secure a spot in The American championship game on Dec. 3. The Owls (7-3, 5-1 The American | East) sit atop the East division with a half-game lead over Houston with two games remaining. Tulane looks to play spoiler and give winning send-off to its 12 seniors -Â nickelback Richard Allen, wide receivers Devon Breaux and Larry Dace III, offensive linemen Todd Jacquet and Chris Taylor, linebackers Nico Marley, Casey Spinelli and Eric Thomas, running backs Josh Rounds and Lazedrick Thompson, defensive tackle Tanzel Smart and tight end Marshall Wadleigh.
"Every game, we go out and give our best effort. That's what you are supposed to do," added Fritz. "We have some really good seniors so we want everybody to play well (for them)."
