Football Takes in Thanksgiving Practice on Thursday Morning
Nov 24, 2016 | Football
NEW ORLEANSÂ - Before taking in the joys of Thanksgiving day, Tulane football took to the Yulman stadium turf for its final full practice of the week before traveling to Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. to close out the 2016 season at UConn.
The Green Wave (3-8, 0-7 American Athletic Conference | West) and the Huskies (3-8, 1-6 The American | East) each look to cap the regular season with a victory and start the offseason on a positive note in a matchup set for a 3 p.m. CT kickoff on ESPNews and WatchESPN.
"This is a big ballgame," said head coach Willie Fritz. "They all count as one, as I have said many times before, but this is a great opportunity for us to show how tough we are. We need to go out there and play our tails off on Saturday."
On a day to be thankful, Fritz noted he and his coaching staff have a lot to be thankful for working with these Green Wave football student-athletes over this first season.
"I'm really thankful for these guys. They have been excellent," added Fritz. "They have done an excellent job of embracing change. I've had very few problems. Really, it's been a frustrating and disappointing year for us. We didn't fulfill the goals we established at the beginning of the season. But it's been a great group anyway. Sometimes that doesn't occur when you have a bit of adversity. But these guys have been great."
