NEW ORLEANS – After two weekends in Tennessee, the No. 19 Tulane bowling team returns home to host the second annual Southland Bowling League Championship at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner, from March 25-26.
Friday's matches will begin at 9:30 a.m., and conclude at 6 p.m. CST. Play will resume on Saturday with the consolation championship match at 9:30 a.m. CST, with the winner of that taking on the winner's bracket champion at 12 p.m. CST. If the winner's bracket champion loses the championship match, there will be a final match to determine the tournament champion at 1:45 p.m. CST, as this tournament is double-elimination format.
"It is really exciting to be the first school to host the Southland Bowling League Championship, and it will be nice to perform in front of all our supporters," said Tulane head coach Hayley Veitch. "Our home center is a great venue to host a tournament. My main goal is for us to perform better than we did last year; it certainly won't be an easy task, but I know we can do it."
The Southland Bowling League announced the seeding for the tournament on Wednesday, as well as a complete look at the opening round bracket. All matches at the tournament will be Baker best-of-seven bracket play matches.
The Olive and Blue come in as the sixth seed overall, and will take on the Sam Houston State Bearkats in the first match on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. CST.
The winner of the Southland Bowling League Championship will be an at-large candidate for the NCAA Championship, which will be held on April 14-16 in North Brunswick, New Jersey.
Mike Flanagan will broadcast the entire tournament on InsideBowling.com. Single-day passes for either day are $10, with two-day passes at $15. Children under the age of five are admitted free of charge, and Southland Bowling League institution students are admitted with a valid student ID.
