NEW ORLEANS - Tulane head volleyball coach Jim Barnes announced today the addition of five players, including Justine Bowers, Meghan Doyle, Erika Hansel, Hannah Shaw and Alexis Silver, to the Green Wave's 2016 signing class.
“This group will make an immediate impact on our program and will add to the culture we are trying to build with their solid work ethic and ability play at a high level,” Barnes said. “They will fit in right away. We are ecstatic that we were able to put together a class in such a short amount of time with this much skill. These players more than address the needs of our team for this season.”
Bowers is a 5'10” setter and transfer from Gardner-Webb, where she played in 49 matches in two seasons and recorded totals of 64 kills, 263 digs, 879 assists and 55 total service aces. “Justine will make an immediate impact on our team this season. She is very good at running our unique style of offense. Justine is a great leader with very good quickness and smooth setter skills. Our hitters will be greatly improved by our offense and Justine's setting ability,” Barnes said.

“Erika has the character and work ethic to become an excellent college player. She is very fast, athletic and has a great overall skill set. “Hannah is a physical athlete that has all the skills to become an elite left-side attacker. She has the ability play all six rotations and the arm strength to terminate in and out of our system. Hannah is an excellent student who will do very well here at Tulane,” Barnes said.

“Alexis is a hard-working, driven student-athlete. She is a very explosive jumper and will be a great blocker on the right side and will terminate at high efficiency as well. Alexis is also a great student and will be a perfect fit at Tulane,” Barnes said.
